What is the difference between a personal care home and an assisted living community?

In Georgia both are licensed by the Department of Community Health, but a personal care home serves a small number of residents in a residential structure. Assisted living communities are larger and licensed to provide additional services such as certified medication aides at scale. Our homes are licensed personal care homes with memory care endorsement where applicable, which is why the ratios are so much lower than a large community's.

Yes. We operate as a licensed personal care provider under the Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Facility Regulation Division. We will hand you the license number, our most recent inspection outcome, and our staffing plan during your tour — before you ask for them.

My mother has mid-stage Alzheimer's. Can she stay as she declines?

In most cases, yes. Our Memory Care Hub is built for higher acuity, and we hold standing relationships with home health and hospice partners so that increasing needs are met in place. If a resident's needs exceed what a personal care home may legally provide, we tell you early and help coordinate the next setting rather than issuing a 30-day notice.

What does it cost, and what is included?

Assisted residential living begins at $4,250 per month and memory care at $5,900 per month, set by assessed acuity. The rate includes room, all meals and snacks, laundry, housekeeping, medication administration, personal care, activities, and administrator oversight. Incontinence supplies and standard transportation to local medical appointments are included — they are not add-ons.

Do you accept Medicaid, long-term care insurance, or VA benefits?

We are private pay and work with most long-term care insurance policies, providing the itemized documentation carriers require. We also help families file VA Aid & Attendance paperwork. We do not currently accept Medicaid for room and board.

How quickly can someone move in?

If a bed is open, most residents move in within five to ten days of assessment. Hospital and rehab discharges can often be handled in 72 hours through our Transitional Support program. When homes are full we maintain a dated waitlist and tell you honestly where you stand.

Can we visit whenever we want?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Families are welcome any day, and we ask only that late-evening visits respect other residents' sleep. Georgia resident rights guarantee visitation, and we treat it as a design feature rather than an exception.

Question 8

How do you handle medications and medical emergencies?

Medications are stored in a locked central cabinet, administered on schedule by trained staff, and logged at each pass. The administrator audits the log weekly against physician orders. All staff hold current CPR and first-aid certification, and every home has a posted emergency plan with the resident's physician, pharmacy, and responsible-party contacts.
